چکیده

We present our approach for pose verification with monocular cameras in 3-dimensional space based on the image-based control paradigm. We describe the extensions to our previous control system for mobile navigation that allow us to estimate the complete set of pose parameters in space. The major contribution of this approach is a sensorindependent formulation of the image formation that allows a flexible configuration with a variety of sensor systems including standard cameras, omnidirectional cameras and laser systems. Our second contribution is a way to reinitialize the tracked landmarks during a multi-segment navigation in applications with significant deviations from the pre-taught trajectory as it is the case for handheld systems and flying robots. The presented system can be used as a guidance system for visitors. The localization is based on known landmarks that are in our case natural landmarks in the environment. These landmarks correspond to the satellites of a GPS system. We call it V-GPS (vision-based GPS) because of this similarity in the concept. A camera carried by a person allows to navigate along pre-specified paths through environments, like galleries, hospitals, parks, and other public places.

Ultra-Fast Image Reconstruction of Tomosynthesis Mammography Using GPU

Digital Breast Tomosynthesis (DBT) is a technology that creates three dimensional (3D) images of breast tissue. Tomosynthesis mammography detects lesions that are not detectable with other imaging systems. If image reconstruction time is in the order of seconds, we can use Tomosynthesis systems to perform Tomosynthesis-guided Interventional procedures. This research has been designed to study u...

Landing of an Airliner Using Image Based Visual Servoing

In this paper, an image-based visual servoing scheme is presented in order to control a transport aircraft in final approach phase by overcoming the need for external information (e.g. ILS or GPS systems) and runway knowledge. Based on three decoupled visual features and inertial data, the guidance scheme is designed and validated on a simplified model and tested on a realistic nonlinear simula...

A Portable Multi-sensor System for Geo-referenced Image Sequences

The demand of high-resolution spatial information such as geo-referenced images and realistic 3D models is rapidly increasing. Most existing systems to acquire such information involve expensive platforms such as manned or unmanned, air or ground vehicles to obtain high-resolution images and GPS/IMU data. Thanks to the availability of small image acquisition devices and light-weighted MEMS GPS/...

Low-cost Image-assisted Inertial Navigation System for a Micro Air Vehicle

The increasing civilian demand for autonomous aerial vehicle platforms in both hobby and professional markets has resulted in an abundance of inexpensive inertial navigation systems and hardware. Many of these systems lack full autonomy, relying on the pilot’s guidance with the assistance of inertial sensors for guidance. Autonomous systems depend heavily on the use of a global positioning sate...

Differential Flatness Method Based on Pre-set Guidance and Control Subsystem Design for a Surface to Surface Flying Vehicle (TECHNICAL NOTE)

The purpose of this paper is to design a guidance and control system and evaluate the performance of a sample surface‑to‑surface flying object based on preset guidance with a new prospective. In this study, the main presented idea is usage of unique property of governor differential equations in order to design and develop a controlled system. Thereupon a set of system output variables have bee...
